One of the latest electric vehicles to hit the market, the luxury focused Lucid Air provides huge power and a unique appointments like a full glass roof that blends straight into the windshield in front of you. Offering 480 horsepower in the base model along with a range of 653 kilometers, Lucid is yet another new automotive company that has quickly established itself as a real competitor to the legacy automakers.

Acura Integra Type S – 2024 Finalist

Making its return to the market after a long hiatus, the Acura Integra Type S looks to make a new name for it among sporty, luxury sedans. Packing a 2.0L VTEC turbocharged engine making 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, the Type S delivers thrilling acceleration and great driver control thanks to a six-speed manual transmission.

Honda Accord – 2024 Finalist

The Honda Accord is a mainstay in the world of sedans and the 2024 model is fresh off a redesign that brings new looks and features to Honda’s stalwart family mover. New hybrid powertrain options have arrived and Honda is hoping to sell at least half of new Accords with an electrified powertrain. Handsome styling also defines the new Accord, an exciting departure from a boring past.

Mazda CX-90 Plug-In Hybrid – 2024 Semi-Finalist

Mazda continued its march upmarket this year with the all-new CX-90. This three-row SUV comes with not one but two new powertrains, including the Japanese brand’s first plug-in hybrid. With a high-end interior and mature driving dynamics, the CX-90 is aiming for the next class up.

Nissan Ariya – 2024 Semi-Finalist

Nissan was one of the first onto the electric scene with the original Leaf. The Ariya is the brand’s sophomore battery-electric effort, targeting the popular SUV segment with a combination of premium cabin with multiple powertrain and battery pairings.

Subaru Crosstrek – 2024 Semi-Finalist

The third generation Subaru Crosstrek has arrived for 2024 and it takes an evolutionary approach. Dimensions are nearly the exact same as the outgoing model and Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive is of course baked in. Where the new model sets itself apart is with new technologies that aim to make it safer and drive better. Power comes from a 2.5L four-cylinder boxer engine packing 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.

Honda CR-V – 2024 Semi-Finalist

With a fresh redesign arriving last year for the CR-V, this Canadian-built crossover has been a perennial best-seller in Canada for many years. It’s a proven formula of practicality and functionality that keep buyers coming back to the CR-V and the refreshed version looks to keep building on that. A base 1.5L four-cylinder is available with 190 hp while a larger 2.0-liter engine paired with a hybrid system delivers 205 hp.

Hyundai Ioniq 6 – 2024 Finalist

Hyundai is adding to its all-electric vehicle lineup with the Ioniq 6, a sleek sedan that shares its architecture with the slightly shorter Ioniq 5 hatchback. Offering up to 581 kilometers on a single charge, the Ioniq 6 provides good range and all-wheel drive.

Toyota Prius Prime – 2024 Finalist

The 2024 Toyota Prius lays claim to a title that no Prius has ever held: sexy. With a radical rethink of the exterior, the new Prius sheds its boring skin in favour of a flowing aesthetic more akin to something you’d find on a Lexus model. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with the hybrid drive now provides the power, providing 220 horsepower in the Prime model, which utilizes a plug to allow for up to 72 KM of all-electric range.
